IME Capital Investment Queries provide answers to common investor queries that are directly written by IME Capital’s Central Investment Team. This helps ensure centralised, common and transparent communication of our thoughts to all investors (& potential investors) of IME Capital, and helps mitigate against the disparate communication common in the wealth management industry. Please note, that the answers to these queries can be time/market-condition sensitive, or only applicable to specific types of investors.

Timing the market is something that is impossible to do, even the best fund managers are not able to do. When newflow is positive, equity markets are likely to be at highs and as long as economic momentum sustains markets can continue to do well. When newsflow is negative, this is likely to be the only time when you can buy in at a discount, since discounts will not be available when there are no concerns on the horizon.
If you are looking for long term wealth creation then near term volatility does not matter. We have a blog which demonstrates how risk reduces with time for equity investments – https://imecapital.in/blogs/why-risk-in-equity-depends-on-your-investment-horizon/
If you are looking you long term wealth creation, it is important that you do not try to time the markets in the short-term, and focus instead on the longer-term wealth creation that takes place in equity by staying invested. You always have the option of staggering your investments, if you are concerned about volatility in the near-term.
